Italy has proven to be an absolute protagonist of international biathlon: this is the result of the IBU Word Cup 4th stage, scheduled in Pokljuka (SLO) from 5 to 8 January.

The Italian biathlon national team, which can count on the Fiocchi Munizioni Biathlon line (Exacta Winter, Official Winter, and TT Winter) also this year, climbed the Slovenian podium three times, winning two silver and one bronze medals.

Among the “azzurri", the best was Dorothea Wierer, one of the top athletes of the Fiocchi Team, who achieved the third place in the Sprint race and the second place in the Pursuit one. In both competitions, the athlete from Sud Tirol showed to be in great shape on skis, but above all a great precision at the shooting range, where she missed only one target in the Pursuit race.

In the last day of competition, the Italian mixed relay achieved another great second place: the quartet made up of Didier Bionaz, Tommaso Giacomel, Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi led a comeback race that allowed Italy to come back on the podium of this discipline, after almost two years since the last time.

The Slovenian stage saw Tommaso Giacomel’s growth, who achieved the 5th place in the Pursuit competition and the 6th in the Sprint one.
