An unprecedented achievement. A goal reached only by thirteen other Italian athletes in the history of winter sports. Dorothea Wierer has won the 2018/2019 IBU World Cup. The Italian 28-year-old raised the crystal globe in the sky in Oslo Holmenkollen (NOR), the tenth and final competition of a long and exhausting season: her 12th position in the mass start race was good enough to seal the general ranking in 1st place with 904 points, 22 more than her teammate Lisa Vittozzi, who closed 2nd. A double that truly reflects the fantastic season that the Italian NT had: 21 total podiums – the last one signed by Lukas Hofer, 2nd in the sprint race in Oslo Holmenkollen – six World Cup gold medals and two World Championship titles, along with two small globes: Wierer in the Pursuit event, Vittozzi in the Individual one. A memorable ending to a memorable season, for Italian biathlon and for the Fiocchi Team.
