The fourth stage of the IBU World Cup took place in Oberhof (GER), where Italy sealed the competition with two Silver medals. Climbing on the German podium was Dorothea Wierer, 2nd in the Pursuit race, and the men’s relay composed by Thomas Bormolini, Thierry Chenal, Lukas Hofer and Dominik Windisch, who placed behind Sweden in the four-leg race. Dorothea performance was stunning, with a perfect score at the shooting range that allowed her to finish behind Slovakia’s Anastasiya Kuzmina, securing her second individual medal in this season after the Bronze she won in Hochfilzen (AUT). It’s something historic, finally, the Silver won by Bormolini, Chenal, Hofer and Windisch, who brought Italy on the men’s relay podium six years after the last time. Under some very bad weather conditions, the four Azzurri kept the focus, closing with a strong shooting score and a one-minute gap behind Sweden. The IBU World up Biathlon will now move to Ruhpolding, also in Germany, where the fifth stage will take place from the 9th to the 14th of January.
