Four days of top-level biathlon, surrounded by what is universally acknowledged as the most beautiful stage of the international circuit: the 2018/2019 IBU World Cup, as usual, stopped in Anterselva, where renovated track and structures were presented in anticipation of next year’s IBU World Championship. Surely, the Italian National Team were among the main protagonist of the competition, collecting one gold medal, one bronze and six more placement in the top 10. The two medals came together in the Pursuit Women race, where Dorothea Wierer won her first gold medal in front of her home crowd, and where Lisa Vittozzi secured a fantastic bronze. Good results were also signed by Lukas Hofer – 8th in the Sprint and 9th in the Pursuit – and Dominik Windisch – who battled for the Mass Start podium all along the race, before shooting an unfortunate series in his final visit to the range. Italy’s provisional tally now counts five gold medals, four silvers and four bronzes; while Dorothea Wierer and Lisa Vittozzi are still standing in top-2 positions of the general ranking.
